This is apropos reports about Imam Masjid al-Haram Mecca’s visit to Pakistan allegedly at the invitation of a very controversial land mafia tycoon who is involved in numerous scams. A close relative of mine has been a victim of DHA Valley, Islamabad, a project with which this tycoon was associated and involved in depriving thousands of middle class families of their lifelong savings. It is estimated that almost Rs150 billion deposited by public in hopes of getting 5 and 8 marla plots through balloting that was advertised to be a project of DHA, Islamabad, remains unaccounted for since 2011, when successful allottees would have got possession after payment of all dues.
The Imam Masjid Kaaba is revered by Muslims all over world who visit Mecca and Madinah to perform Umrah and Hajj. He must evaluate credentials and integrity of those on whose invitation he visits various countries. Building mosques with money which belongs to thousands who deposited it in hopes of getting residential plots is definitely not condoned in Islam. With all due reverence and respects that is due to the person who holds esteemed post of Imam Mecca, this is my humble suggestion.
