The PIA has achieved a gross operating profit of PKR 2.83 billion in the first quarter of 2015 as against a gross operating loss of Rs 3.93 billion in the first quarter of 2014.

With the inclusion of fuel efficient, narrow body aircraft, the airline’s operations improved enabling efficiency and better control on fuel cost. The combined effect of downward trend in fuel prices and the impact of replacement of aging fleet with fuel efficient aircraft resulted in almost 49% decline in fuel cost in comparison to the corresponding period of last year.

The airline is in the process of increasing the capacity by inducting more narrow body aircraft. Five ATR’s and two wide body aircraft on dry lease had already been initiated through a transparent and competitive bidding process. Two ATR72-500 have already arrived and are operating. The airline now has four A320 aircraft while nine more will be added starting from June, this year.

With the dedication and commitment of the airline’s management and employees; with new fleet induction, the airline is expected to improve its schedule integrity, market share and profitability in the coming months and can look towards greater customer satisfaction.

  1. Need to give full picture. These firures are only gross operating profit comparioson which inldes deline of 49% in fuel price as well. Comparision should be given for improvements due to govt. measures like reduction in non operting expenses and efficiencies.

    • Bhai you are talking like a parah likah person, your due questions are falling on deaf ears, shaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiirrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

      • What about an ignorant kid who have read another article about the same topic somewhere else and commenting like an expert here. Kids grow up, it's not about two parties and personalities, it's about Pakistan.

  2. Is it the revenue or profit. 3 months and 2.8 Billions? plus no stimulation in the stock price…

  3. yesterday traveled from LHE-KHI on PK305 without any Air Conditioning. Pathetic!!!

  4. PIA had been one of the best Airline but it lost confidence among its passengers but it has improved standards again i must say!

  5. The way they saved people in Yemen deserves applause when no other airline was willing to save people.

  6. They need to get their numbers right. PIA reported operating profit of 2.14 billion as compared to profit of 1.66 billion last year and net loss of 1.9 billion which is similar to the last year.

  7. All problems have solutions . . that is if you want to solve them else leave them. PIA is just like our cricket team . .! ! ! once it was looked as the worlds best air liner and then the politics, personal interference etc. . .etc . . . made it the worse airline.

More than 50% aircraft are grounded. Over employment, non revenue passengers. . etc . . etc . . and the list goes on.

Figures don't mean anything to a revenue passenger. All a passenger wants is pleasant flight. What happened to hospitality, courtesy, punctuality. Get your house in order!

    10. Pakistan International Airlines
If you’re the kind of person who values timeliness Pakistan International Airlines is not one you should consider flying with. So far in 2015 their on-time performance average is a dismal 37.53% -granted they only fly about 3,000 flights a month compared to a major carrier like US Airways who operates nearly 90,000 each month but one would think less flights might make it easier to be on time. In addition, the Skytrax ratings show only 2 star ratings for important areas like check-in services, arrival assistance, transfer services and staff language skills.
