Free medicine centre established at ASH

Karachi Commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui said on Wednesday that a free medicine centre had been established at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) by the officers of Civil Services Academy (CSA) as a Medibank Trust welfare project.

“The free medicines will be provided on the recommendations of relevant doctors,” he said, while talking to inaugural ceremony of the project. The free medicine centre has been named after daughter of income tax commissioner ASH Basharat Qureshi, late Dr Sundus Qureshi. Basharat Qureshi inaugurated the centre.

Siddiqui said 12th common’s officers of CSA had started the welfare work through a trust with an enthusiasm of social welfare. Free medicine centers would also be set up at three other government hospitals of the city which included JinnahPostgraduateMedicalCenter, Civil Hospital Karachi and PakistanRailwayHospital.

“Some 40 varieties of medicines would at the moment be provided at the hospitals on the recommendations of doctors under the supervision of hospital administration,” he said.
