At least 27 houses were gutted and two persons were injured in two separate incidents of blaze in Baramulla and Islamabad towns on Wednesday.

Around 25 houses were gutted and two persons were injured during a fire that broke out in densely populated Mohalla Jalal Sahib area of Baramulla town, Kashmir Media Service reported.

As many as 46 families lost their shelter in the blaze.

The fire left scores of residents, mostly from lower middle class families, shelter-less. Many families also lost important belongings including gold ornaments.

“I lost gold ornaments worth lakhs of rupees. All these items were meant for marriage of my daughter. Now nothing is left with me, not even shelter,” said an affectee, Abdul Ahad.

Two residential houses were gutted in another incident of fire in Kukarnag area of Islamabad.
