Former SSP Rao Anwaar has filed an application in Malir Cantt Police Station on Tuesday seeking registration of case against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chairman Altaf Hussain for allegedly threatening him.
Rao Anwaar stated that Altaf Hussain, while addressing his supporters, had threatened to “blow him up with a canon.”
According to sources, decision on the complaint will be taken by the top police officials. Last week, Anwaar’s convoy came under attack in the Malir area of Karachi. Suspected terrorists belonging to the TTP hurled hand grenades and opened fire on the police vehicles.
No policeman was injured in the incident whereas five attackers were killed in retaliatory fire. On Thursday, the IG had suspended Rao Anwaar hours after he had alleged in a press briefing that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) had maintained connections with India’s spy agency, RAW.
