The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has disallowed fixing of India-made chillers in the installation of the new central air conditioning system at the Parliament House.
Sources said that CDA has invited tenders from national and foreign companies for replacing chillers in the centrally air conditioning system at the Parliament House. The tender which had been floated stated that besides chillers of Chinese and Korean companies, Indian company “Thermax” chillers will also be acceptable.
However, when member CDA Engineering Shahid Sohail came to known about the issue, he sought a reply from DG E&M and expressed his anguish over the insertion of the Indian company chillers in the bid. He added that when import of Indian goods has been banned in the trade policy of the country then why were the Indian company’s goods allowed in the bid.
Member CDA Engineering directed for excluding the Indian company “Thermax” from the list and ordered to inform the companies contesting the bid in this connection.
Shahid Sohail also warned Deputy Director of the Parliament, Moazzam Ali against negligence while shortlisting the companies and said that in the future any such laxity would not be tolerated and strict legal action would be taken against him.
