Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Pervaiz Rashid has said that it was matter of satisfaction that Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief, Altaf Hussain has realized his mistake of issuing statement against security institutions and it was hoped that he will not repeat the mistake again.
Talking to media persons after a literary conference here on Sunday, Pervez Rashid said that there was constitutional bar regarding criticism on national security institutions and judiciary. He said that though constitution of the country guarantees freedom of expression for countrymen but it should be exercised within the parameters defined by the book.
The information minister said that Pakistan Electronic Media and Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has taken notice of Altaf Hussain’s defamatory speech against the army and national institutions but the MQM chief himself realized his mistake that is why apologized for his defamatory speech and it was hoped will the repeat the mistake in future. He also urged the media houses to block transmission of derogatory remarks against national security institutions and the judiciary.
Rashid alleged that chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan intends to pit Parliament and armed forces against each other. He said that Khan’s comments should not be taken seriously.
