Tahreek-e-Bahali-e-CNG Chief Organiser Raja Jahangir Akhtar on Friday said that the CNG sector of Punjab is dwindling with the passage of each day.

The world’s number one CNG industry is braving conspiracies while the CNG industry in India and Bangladesh is enjoying the patronage of the government, he said.

Speaking at a protest rally in Fateh Jhang, he said that the development of the CNG industry and one per cent gas losses in neighbouring countries clearly indicate that there is something inherently wrong with Pakistan and its policymakers.

He said that machinery of CNG stations has rusted to trash while operators are unable to meet fixed expenses as this sector has been kept closed intentionally for the last six months. “We will go to any extent, including protest outside Prime Minister House and CM Punjab Secretariat to get our rights,” he said, adding that closed CNG outlets are costing over one to two hundred thousand per month, which is not viable.

He called upon the leaders of the CNG sector to unite and strive for the cause by uniting forces against conspirators who want to lay waste to the CNG industry.

“A gas company is dancing to the tune of a banker and a broker to destroy the CNG sector by impeding import and distribution of LNG which is unfortunate,” he said.

Raja Jahangir Akhtar said that government forced owners of over ninety-five per cent wagons to remove diesel engines to convert to CNG to reduce pollution. Now these public service vehicles are without CNG and compelled to use costly petrol.
