Inspector General (IG) of Sindh Police, Ghulam Haider Jamali, said on Friday that former SSP Malir Rao Anwar played a crucial role in eliminating terrorism.
While talking to media, the IG Sindh said Rao Anwar, who demanded ban on MQM during a press conference the other day, curbed crime in his jurisdiction with ‘exemplary and successful actions’.
“Rao Anwar did remarkable action from Malir to Gadap to eliminate criminal gangs,” the IG added. He said police had tried to eliminate acts of terrorism in Karachi and launched various successful actions. He said several ring leaders had been killed.
He termed the assassination of DSP Abdul Fateh an ‘act of terrorism’ and said that police were investigating the case from different aspects.
Ghulam Hyder Jamali said: “We believe this attack to be an organised terrorist strategy, and we are investigating this in great depth.”
