Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that effective implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) against terrorism is yielding positive results and the whole nation has displayed unprecedented unity for the eradication of this menace.
He said that a decisive action is being taken against terrorists and their facilitators. He said that there is no room for extremism, terrorism and sectarianism in the country and 18 crore people of Pakistan will root out terrorism with the force of unity and transform the country into a haven of peace and tranquillity.
He was talking to Assembly Members of various districts who met him today. The Chief Minister said that Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) government is striving to steer the country out of quagmire of problems and is providing relief to the masses in the real sense. He said that every effort is being made to raise the living standards of the deprived segments of society and a number of programmes are being implemented successfully for the welfare and uplifting of the poor and less-privileged people. He said that a large number of people are benefiting from the Metro Bus Service, educational funds, the self-employment scheme, Apna Rozgar programme and other public welfare projects.
The chief minister said that PML-N is serving the people of the province selflessly for the last seven years and this process will continue in future as well. He said that billions of rupees are being spent on the education and health sectors, potable water projects, and provision of modern transport facilities to the citizens. He said that special attention is being paid to the development of infrastructure in the province and a splendid project for the construction and rehabilitation of rural roads has been initiated under Khadim-e-Punjab Daihi Roads Programme.
He said that funds are the trust of the masses and are being spent on their progress and uplifting. He said that all development projects are being completed speedily and transparently while a high standard of construction is also being maintained, as it is the policy of Punjab government.
He said that a corruption-free culture has been promoted in the province and even the opponents of the government cannot put forth any allegations of corruption or embezzlement of a single penny. The chief minister further said that the visit of Chinese President to Pakistan was a game changer and the historic economic package of US$ 46 billion given by China will usher in a new era of progress and prosperity in the country. He said that no effort will be spared for the speedy completion of energy projects and the promise to remove darkness from the country will be fulfilled under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
He said that the results of the Local Bodies elections in Cantonment Boards have given a befitting reply to those who were levelling allegations of rigging in the 2013 elections. He said that people have elected those who could serve them selflessly while rejected the elements who believed in the politics of protest.
