17 Baboos promoted to Grade 22

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has approved the promotion of 17 senior officers from nine service groups from Grade-21 to Grade-22.

According to details, a meeting of the Promotion Board was held under the chairmanship of the prime minister on Thursday during which the approval for promotion was accorded.

Those promoted to Grade-22 include Acting Secretary Information Mohammad Azam, Additional Secretary Interior Fazal Abbas Makkan, Acting Petroleum Secretary Arshad Mirza, MD Printing Corporation of Pakistan Khizar Hayat, Syed Iftikhar Babar, Malik Israr Hussain and Arifa Sabohi. .

Others who have been promoted include Khalid Qureshi from the Police Service, Sheikh Idrees, Najeeb and Shabbir Ahmad from the Audit and Account group, Nadir Ali from the Military Land and Cantonment Service, Faqir Syed from Postal Services, Fouzia Riaz from Foreign Service, Lutfullah Virk from the Customs Group, Javed Noor from Railways and Jabbar Ali from the Secretariat Group.

It is for the first time that such a large number of officers have been promoted to Grade-22 other than the DMG group. In the past, the DMG group had been given precedence over other groups.

Sources said that on the special directives issued by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif other services groups have been given due consideration to meet the demands of justice.  From the 17 officers promoted, 11 are from groups other than DMG.
