Rawalpindi Police Lines unbearable for low cadre cops

The police personnel of Rawalpindi Police Lines are facing difficulties owing to the unavailability of basic amenities of life such as clean drinking water, sanitation, hygienic food and power backup.

Presently, more than 2,000 police personnel are staying at the police lines and most of them are fed up with the available facilities there. The cops said that they were living in “very miserable conditions”.

“We are facing acute water shortage problem for past many weeks due to unavailability of clean drinking water facility,” they said, adding that single water supply pump of lines was out of order for past many weeks. They further said that along with water shortage they are also facing sanitation problem.

“We have to arrange for a sweeper at our own and sometimes our staff has to clean the office itself,” Raja Naveed said. He said that presently whole locality was covered with garbage and despite complaints, nothing happened on the round.

Moreover, he said that police officials also lack the facility of cooks to prepare meals for them. Therefore, the police staff had to go outside and eat in hotels which were both expensive and unhygienic. He said that police mess only serves the officers’ while low staff is compelled to go outside for food.

Furthermore, he said that they were compelled to live life without fans in this hot weather and the ones that are available are mostly out of order. He said they have lodged several complaints to the high-ups of authority concerned but they have not paid any attention towards the issue.
