All out measures are being taken for the protection of life and property of citizens and all departments concerned are working with close coordination for the implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP), said Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif while presiding over a high level meeting on Tuesday which reviewed overall law and order situation, security arrangements and implementation of the NAP.
The chief minister ordered reorganisation of Special Branch and setting up of special protection force as well.
Addressing the meeting, the chief minister said that there is no room for terrorists in Pakistan and the promise to give a safe and peaceful country to the future generations will be fulfilled at any cost.
He gave approval to the implementation of a comprehensive plan for modernising Special Branch and said that its human resource and technical wings will be activated.
He also directed that the process of reorganisation of Special Branch be accelerated and short and medium term strategies be devised for this purpose.
“A special package of incentives will be given to officers and staff of the Special Branch on the basis of their efficiency,” he said while directing that the performance-based special incentives package be given a final shape and recommendations in this regard be presented within ten days.
He further directed that due attention should be paid to the training of the officers and staff of the Special Branch for their capacity-building and refresher courses be arranged for this purpose.
The meeting decided that the newly recruited officers and personnel of Special Branch will not be transferred to any other place.
The chief minister directed that proper attention should be paid to the improvement of research development wing and technical intelligence of the department. He stressed that need of harmonising the intelligence school with the modern demands.
He said that Special Protection Force is being constituted for the safety of foreigners and directed that the process of new recruitment to this force in a transparent manner be completed on war footing.
