Rafique urges Khan to learn from Cantt polls results

Federal Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique on Sunday said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan must realise that politics of accusations can never be beneficial and reminded him that the people have verified the results of general elections by casting votes in favour of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in the cantonment board elections.

Addressing a press conference at Lahore Press Club on Sunday along with Zaeem Hussain Qadri, Khawaja Imran Nazir, Mian Nasir Ahmad and Yasin Sobal, Rafique said that Khan must learn from cantonments elections. He asked Khan to “show moral courage” and withdraw the allegations of rigging in elections.

He also opposed ban on campaigning by Ministers for elections particularly when the elections are held on party basis. He said they would go to the courts against such restrictions. He said if there had been a public holiday and the time for polling extended, the turnout would have been much higher.

The railways minister said a case has been registered against PTI workers who allegedly fired at PML-N activists. He said all the demands of justice would be met as the days of filing false case have gone. He said the PTI and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) revived the tradition of filing false cases and filed false cases against them and the PML-N leadership.

The minister said the PML-N won 15 seats out of 20 in Lahore while in many cities the party made clean sweep and bowled out the PTI.

“Imran Khan should know that there is no short cut in politics and change will come through vote,” Rafique said. He said that it was “PML-N’s responsibility to teach Khan on politics”. “We have performed our duty by not accepting PTI’s resignations,” he said.
