The Sindh High Court has sought comments from the interior secretary, provincial home secretary, Rangers director general, IGP Sindh and other respondent officers of the law enforcement agencies on two petitions seeking whereabouts of missing men alleged to be detained by the law enforcers.

Petitioner Ayub submitted that the paramilitary forces raided his house in Ibrahim Hyderi area on April 9 and took away his son, Muhammad Owais. He added that the Rangers personnel had assured him that his son would be released shortly after interrogation but there was no clue yet to his whereabouts.

He said he had approached Rangers officers to seek information about his whereabouts but they refused to give any clue to him. The petitioner argued that his son’s detention by the law enforcers and their failure to divulge any information about him was violation of the constitution. The court was pleaded to order the authorities to recover and produce his son in court.

Another petitioner, Nasreen Kanwal, submitted that her spouse Junaid was detained by the Rangers personnel on March 24 and since then there was no information about his whereabouts as the paramilitary force had refused to disclose any information.
