The Sindh High Court on Thursday admitted plea of Faisal Mota, a convict in Wali Babar murder case, against the death penalty handed down by Anti-terrorism court (ATC).
The court would take up the plea for hearing along with applications of four other convicts, challenging the sentences awarded by the lower court in the murder case.
Faisal Mota has challenged the capital punishment awarded to him by a court in absentia. Meanwhile, a division bench of SHC also summoned SSP South Zone with a report in a case pertaining to a missing Muttahida Qaumi Movement worker.
During the hearing, applicant Feroza Begum told the bench that her son Irshad was picked up by the Rangers on October 2, 2013. Besides summoning the SSP, the SHC also sought a report from the Home Department within three weeks.
