Imam-e-Kaaba here to heal Saudi-Pak bond

Imam-e-Kaaba Shaikh Khalid al-Ghamidi on Thursday arrived in Lahore for a weeklong visit.

Tight security arrangements were made on the arrival of the Imam who landed at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport where Allama Tahir Ashrafi, Allama Sajid Mir and Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Pakistan welcomed him.

According to senior officials of the Saudi government, the Imam will lead Juma prayers at Pakistan’s largest mosque in Bahria Town, Lahore, and address a big public congregation. He will invite the Ummah to unite against the forces of evil. His visit is being accorded special importance by the governments of the two countries.

Senior officials of the Saudi government say the Imam will stay in Pakistan for about a week and will be invited to a special feast by Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He will also attend a seminar arranged for eradication of polio and urge the nation to take special measures in this regard.

The officials have added that Imam-e-Kaaba will stay in Lahore for four days and in Islamabad for three days to help improve relations between the two countries. He will hold special meetings to discuss the current situation in Yemen.
