National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman, Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, has emphasised the need to augment and strengthen the processes of internal accountability to weed out such elements to get rid of inefficiency, malpractices and so that rules can be properly followed.
Chairing a meeting Wednesday, he said the work of Chairman’s Inspection & Monitoring Team (CI&MT) needs to be further upgraded so that besides quantitative monitoring it should also do a qualitative analysis of the professional output.
The senior Member, Chairman Inspection and Monitoring Team (CI&MT) gave a presentation on the proposed Internal Accountability Mechanism under which NAB officers/officials shall be liable to any adverse action for acts of delinquency, violation of SOPs and ethics of the organisation as per laid down rules/SOPs and TCS.
He said that NAB is Pakistan’s Apex Anti-Corruption Organisation with a mandate to eliminate corruption from the country. NAB’s performance has been appreciated by International Independent Watch Dog “Transparency International” as well as “PILDAT” in their recent reports. It has been known to deal with corruption with an iron fist. The priority for the organisation has always been to first remain accountable to themselves under the very system, which they apply to everyone else. That is why the International Accountability Mechanism is important.
