SHC issues notice on petition of Moazzam’s spouse

The Sindh High Court Tuesday issued notice to the Sindh home secretary, director-general of Sindh Rangers, IG Police, SHO Azizabad and other officials to file comments on a petition of the wife of Moazzam Ali Khan, an alleged prime suspect in murder of Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s leader Dr Imran Farooq, against his detention by the law enforcement agencies.

The petitioner, Sadia Bano, the wife of Moazzam Ali Khan, filed a constitutional petition against detention of her spouse.

The woman petitioner submitted that the personnel of paramilitary force raided her house located in the Block 8 of the Federal B Area, near the Azizabad on early hours of April 12 and took away her husband and his belongings, including a laptop.

In the plea, she submitted that the family members approached the Azizabad police station to seek information on the whereabouts of Khan, but the police officer refused to give any clue of the detainee. Later, they also approached the Rangers officers who did not give any information too.

She argued that the detention of the petitioner’s husband and the law enforcers’ failure to divulge any information on his whereabouts is a violation of the article 18 of the Constitution.

The petitioner pleaded to the court to issue directives for the law enforcers to produce the detainee in the court along with details of the criminal case, made against him.
