The Pakistan Fashion Design Council in collaboration with Sunsilk presented the third day of the eighth PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week. Indeed the 8th PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week marks the twelfth fashion week platform initiated by the Pakistan Fashion Design Council [with eight weeks of prêt-à-porter and four of bridal fashion] and is a direct manifestation of the Council’s commitment to sustainability and discipline within the business of fashion and the facilitation of Pakistan’s retail industry. Indeed #PSFW15 endeavours to define and present trends for 2015, focusing specifically on fashion for the regions’ long hot summer months. Day-3 featured a whole dedicated day of evening Voile shows with Gul Ahmed, Shubinak, Warda Prints, Alkaram Studio, Harmony and House of Ittehad.
Indeed the success of PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week continued to prompt private sector associates to grow in their engagement of the platform to launch new marketing campaigns and promotional activities. To this end, the PFDC’s evolving partnership with Sunsilk grows exponentially this year whereby in addition to their title patronage; Sunsilk also takes over the coveted PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week red carpet and the Green Room/Backstage, as sponsors. This extension of their support is indeed a manifestation of the brand’s belief in and commitment to the platform. Also in continuation of their support for the platform, Fed Ex – GSP Pakistan Gerry’s International returns to PSFW as the official logistics partner, offering the PFDC a special arrangement for international designer consignments.
PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2015 is being styled by the creative teams at Nabila’s and NGENTS. Light design, set design, sound engineering, video packaging, choreography and show production from concept to construction is by HSY Events, front stage management by Maheen Kardar Ali, backstage management by Product 021, Sara Shahid of Sublime by Sara as the official spokesperson for the PFDC, logistics and operations by Eleventh Experience and photography by Faisal Farooqui and the team at Dragonfly, Hum TV/Hum Sitaray as the Official Media Partners, CityFM89 as the Official Radio Partners with all media management by Lotus Client Management & Public Relations.
Voile Shows
Gul Ahmed
The evening Voile Shows on Day-3 of PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2015 were opened by leading textile brand Gul Ahmed. Gul Ahmed’s PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week collection was titled ‘A Flourishing Journey of Prints’ and comprised of cool and summery assortment of items, with diverse cuts and some new and truly unique designs. The collection showcased a variety of stylish options with unique embroideries, excitingly tied in with glamorously flowing contemporary silhouettes. Inspired by Bohemian style, the collection was designed for the contemporary era, with glamorous looks to express yourself and connect with the world and nature. The aesthetic of the collection was modern and bright, depicting the spring/summer, whilst creating an array of flowing silhouettes which could brighten up any evening. The collection exuded sheer class and timeless elegance, for every woman who aspires to be a fashionista. The exquisite attire in the collection was an ode to femininity, where the cuts were edgy yet subtle, bold yet understated.
Shubinak
Following Gul Ahmed was textile brand Shubinak who showcased their Voile collection, ‘Pakistan United,’ at PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2015. Taking inspiration from socio-environmental activism, Shubinak had made use of pure Pakistani cotton, organic cotton fabrics and recycled cotton bags with Jacquards reforestation theme’s patterns embedded within. In line with the brand’s inspiration and theme, ‘Pakistan United’ featured a colour palette with naturals and organic dyed earthy tones and embellishments consisting of hand embroidery, crocheting, applique work, Ralli and stone carving from different regions of Pakistan. The distinctive trend employed by the team at Shubinak for their ‘Pakistan United’ collection revolved around the use of organic resources and social and environmental activism.
Warda Prints
The next evening Voile Show was presented by Warda Prints’ whose PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2015 collection titled ‘Chromatic Ecstasy’ was an ode to Chroma, cruising in an ocean of luscious reds, tangerine oranges, canary yellows and aquatic blues. Bold patterns were the archetype of WARDA, with prints originating from the Medieval Era that were rich in Romanesque antiquity, Oriental artifacts and characteristic Persian Paisleys. Inspired by eastern prints and embellishments, the fusion in this collection was of motifs transcending boundaries and cut lines that could be easily interpreted as contemporary chic & classical eastern drapery. The fabrics used ranged from the luscious of silks to finest of nets with a mix of elegant organza and chicest of chiffons. The colour palette comprised of tones of hot pink to steel grey, hues such as cobalt blue and fresh olive greens had been used as per forecasted trends, along with tints and shades of mustard with a touch of metallics. Key trends being highlighted were a blend of prints, bold with hint of vibrant colours, more focus on cut lines and comfort than just decorative pieces of fabric, bohemian edge, earthy grounds with brushed florals, swirling patterns, soft hued paisley, jacquards and brocade glamour, layering and a stamp of metallic studs.
Alkaram Studio
Next was Alkaram Studio with their PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2015 collection ‘Savoir Vivre’. Inspired by traditional style and fused with modernity, ‘Savoir Vivre’ featured a blend of conversation prints with traditional ethnic and floral motifs based in a variety of fabrics ranging from lawn, chikan kari to jacquard. A diverse colour palette with print-on-print and pure whites alongside laces, cutwork and innovative silhouettes made up distinct features for the brand’s collection. Renowned music personality Mustafa Zahid of Roxen fame walked the ramp as the brand’s celebrity showstopper.
Harmony
After Alkaram Studio, Harmony showcased its ‘Summer Rhythm’ collection at PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2015. Inspired by nature itself, the collection revolved around floral patterns and summery colours in the hues of warm blue, fiery red and sunny yellows. The ‘Summer Rhythm’ collection was a mix of silks and chiffons with accents of gold sequins paired with black & white silk fabric. The well-balanced collection gave focus to individuality and serenity, for the confident, trend setter woman of today. The collection featured outfits for both men and women with trends of flowy chiffon & silk skirts, short tops and straight cut skirts paired with black and white silk veils.
House of Ittehad
Day-3’s finale was presented by premier textile brand the House of Ittehad who showcased a collection titled ‘The Sumer Rouge’ which had been designed by leading couturier HSY. Inspired by a variety of contemporary cultures with a mix of various ethnicities from all around the globe, the collection featured floral and geometric prints with contemporary and stylish cuts, merged with the combination of conventional and unconventional embellishments. Based in bright colors with a little blend of pastels and earthy tones, House of Ittehad also showcased their menswear line, I-Man. Key trends that were highlighted included floral prints and colors such as pastels with a little blend of bright in accumulation of exquisite prints.
