Pakistan, China are bosom chums: CM

The address of Chinese President Xi Jinping to the joint session of the parliament reflects China’s deep love for Pakistan and its people, said Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif while talking to journalists after the speech of the Chinese president to the joint session of Parliament in Islamabad on Tuesday.

The chief minister said that the national unity and harmony displayed during the visit of the Chinese president is unprecedented and the agreements of investment of billions of dollars signed on this occasion, guarantee progress and prosperity of Pakistan.

“No effort will be spared to give a practical shape to these agreements under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and no stone will be left unturned to make Pakistan an Asian tiger with the cooperation of China,” he said, adding that work will be carried out round the clock on the projects and completed with hard work and commitment.

He further said that the Chinese president has proved to be a true friend of Pakistan by making historic agreements of investment of $ 46 billion in energy, infrastructure, transport and other sectors. He said that Pak-China friendship is an asset for coming generations and this bond of friendship is everlasting. He said that the visit of the Chinese president has proved to be a game changer.

POWER CHINA’s DELEGATION MEETS CM:

Meanwhile, a high level delegation led by Power China chairman called o the chief minister in Islamabad to discuss matters regarding survey and evolving of a master plan for utilisation of energy resources.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed on this occasion between the Punjab government and Hydro China Cooperation which is a subsidiary organisation of Power China regarding the survey and master planning of energy resources.

Under the agreement, Hydro China Corporation will conduct a survey of energy resources and undertake master planning in Punjab. It was also agreed to constitute a working group comprising senior officials and experts of the government and Hydro China Corporation.

Speaking on the occasion, Shahbaz said that due to successful and historic visit of the Chinese president, a new era of economic progress has ushered in Pakistan. He said that investment by Chinese private and public sector companies in energy sector in Pakistan is highly appreciable.

STATE GRID CORPORATION’S DELEGATION DISCUSSES TRANSMISSION LINES PROJECT:

Separately, a delegation of State Grid Corporation of China led by its president also called on the chief minister in Islamabad to discuss in detail a project for laying transmission lines for a power project.

The chief minister said that the Punjab government will extend all out administrative help and cooperation to the ongoing federal energy projects in Punjab. He said that there will be no delay in acquiring land for the installation of transmission lines. He said that besides increasing energy production, the government is also paying attention to the extension of transmission lines.
