Girl injured in acid attack, accused arrested

A girl was critically injured in an acid attack over refusal of marriage proposal on Monday.

Police said that accused hailing from Basti Malook Shah of Bahawalpur wanted to marry a local girl named Mahnaz but her family rejected the proposal.

Upon refusal, the accused threw acid at Mahnaz while she was returning home after routine medical checkup at a private clinic near her residence.

Face and upper half of the body of the girl was burnt due to the attack and was rushed to Victoria Hospital for medical treatment.

The police arrested the culprit and after registering a case against him started an interrogation.
