The Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has approved the construction of an overhead bridge rather than an underpass between district courts Rawalpindi and Judicial Complex.
PC-1 of this project will now be evolved. C and W department had sent the summary of overhead bridge for approval.
Director Bridges C and W department had declared underpass project between district courts Rawalpindi and Judicial Complex non-workable.
Sources said opinion was solicited from commissioner Rawalpindi division with reference to summary of overhead bridge.
The road accidents had increased manifold in the absence of overhead bridge or underpass on the road lying between district courts Rawalpindi and Judicial Complex and lawyers’ community had also lodged complaints several times on day-to-day growing casualties on this road.
Earlier CM Punjab had accorded approval to the construction of underpass and its PC-1 was being prepared at the estimated cost of Rs 90 million.
Justice Ibad Ur Rehman Lodhi had also presided over a meeting in connection with the construction of the underpass and divisional and district management had held out assurances that PC-1 in respect of underpass will be worked out within two weeks.
