As part of its ongoing drive against commercial units and offices operating in residential areas, the Capital Development Agency (CDA) had also served a notice to the Inspector General Islamabad Police to vacate the building, but the notice is likely to be resisted.
Police sources told Online that the IG office has thrashed out a strategy to vitiate the civic agency’s enforcement department’s plan of vacating the building. The sources said that as soon as the CDA team reaches the IG office to vacate the building, the team would be welcomed by giving them a good drubbing followed by registration of cases against them.
The CDA in its notice has contended that since the IG office was operating in the residential area in violation of CDA building by-laws 2005, it should be vacated within 15 days of the notice.
Currently, more than 2000 buildings in residential areas are being used for commercial purpose.
When contacted, a spokesman for the IG neither denied nor confirmed the strategy the police have put in place only saying that the notice was being considered currently. End/Online
A test case for CDA. Ultimately the higher courts would intervene.
