LAHORE:

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) sent Mustafa Kanju and four of his accomplices on a 14-day judicial remand on Friday (today), for the alleged murder of Lahore minor Zain, according to local media sources.

In a previous hearing, Kanju had stated that the fired shots were ‘accidental’ and he had not meant to kill Zain. He had claimed innocence and said that the victim’s relatives were conspiring to trap him into the case.

Kanju’s lawyer had stated that Zain, a 16-year-old orphan, had fallen victim to cross-firing between his client and his ‘opponents’ ─ whom he did not identify ─ and that Kanju had no personal enmity with Zain.
