ISLAMABAD:
Islamabad High Court (IHC) issued notices to President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and nine other parties on Friday (today), directing them to submit a response within a period of 15 days in response to a petition which calls for a judicial inquiry into the age of death-row convict Shafqat Hussain.
Hussain’s counsel had submitted an application yesterday requesting a judicial inquiry to ascertain his client’s age. The petition also expressed dissatisfaction over the FIA’s investigation into Hussain’s age.
Hussain was arrested and sentenced to death in 2004 for kidnapping and killing a seven-year-old boy from an apartment building in Karachi where he was working as a guard.
