The prime suspect in the murder of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Imran Farooq was produced in an anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Tuesday.

Pakistan Rangers requested the ATC for 90-day preventive detention of the suspect Moazzam Ali for questioning. The paramilitary force informed the court that they have credible information about his involvement in targeted killings and other offences which fall under the domain of the anti-terrorism act (ATA).

The suspect was subsequently placed under preventive detention for three months under Section 11 EEEE and in compliance with Section 11 EEEE (3) of the ATA.

Nisar had not disclosed the name of the suspect but said his identity would be made public when he is presented in court.

The man taken into custody by intelligence and security agencies was responsible for arranging visas, tickets and stay in Britain of two suspected killers of Dr Farooq.
