London Police extend MQM chief’s bail in money laundering case till July after five hours of questioning
London police has extended Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chairman Altaf Hussain’s bail till July after he was interviewed for more than five hours by investigation officers on Tuesday.
“I trust the British judicial system. Party workers should remain peaceful during the course of investigation,” said Altaf Hussain while coming out of the police station.
Earlier, the MQM chief accompanied by MQM leaders Babar Ghauri, Farooq Sattar, other members of the Rabita Committee, and his legal team, had arrived at the police station at 10am London time in connection with a money laundering investigation conducted by the London Metropolitan Police.
Outside the police station, Altaf Hussain told a news channel that he wanted all of Pakistan to pray for him. He was surrounded by security personnel, and appeared not to be in the best of health. He told the channel that he was well, and was hopeful that he would emerge victorious.
Babar Ghauri and Barrister Saif, who were with him, declined to comment at the time. The MQM members who accompanied him to the police station had left the premises after seeing him off.
The party maintains that Hussain arrived at Southwark Police Station “by appointment” and was interviewed by officers from the British Metropolitan Police.
Earlier in the day, while addressing party workers and activists gathered at Azizabad’s Jinnah Ground in Karachi, Altaf Hussain had asked his supporters to pray for him, and said that one has to undergo tests in a political struggle. He also urged his followers to remain calm.
If the police had gathered enough evidence against him, they would have charged him. But it seems they were dissatisfied with the evidence, hence they reportedly granted him bail for the third time.
More than a hundred years ago Allamah Iqbal observed and lamented on the state of Muslim Ummah " UMATI BA'ATH -E-RISWA'AEI PAIGAMBAR HAIN.". And the mode of thinking of individuals have not changed a bit. Go on gentlemen! Follow your chosen paths !!!!!!!!!
Spot on. Its Us how we choose to choose our destiny.
I remember good old days when ALTAF HUSSAIN struggled to pay his house rent in CHICAGO and compelled to DRIVE TAXI to survive. Those were hard days and proved his worth as an adult from Pakistan. Soon he discovered traditional old easy way to survive by canibalising his own people. The Pakistani population seemed rife to carve a like minded heartless beasts to prey on the hapless traders. The dead nation of blinds had one eyed as successive leaders, aided and abetted by highly elite colonial public servants ,
who had no time to look beyond their loot and paid no attention to equitable development of meagre resources that precipitated to droves of such discontented youths like Altaf Bhai. And compassion and humane feelings for fellow country men eclipsed and shadowed by easy money like BHATTAS and EXTORTION. It is a pitiable situation in this time and age of twenty-first century in a much touted religious country like Pakistan. They say "A FISH ROTS FROM THE HEAD FIRST" is a maxim that fits Pakistani society. It is hard to find the beginning and end of this tragic situation prevailing in the country and our society.Quoting Shakespere" "If you have tears shed them now".
How long he can escape the Justice System. He is in deep trouble. Grant of bail or extension in it does not effect the investigations going on against him. His lawyers know it and he knows it too. M Q M must elect or select another leader to survive.
The vote Baofnk Karachi people were being exploited by different political parties since the country came into existence, Done nothing to this city, what ever improvement was done was by MQM was in the span of Mustafa Kamal Administration, some thing is better than nothing.
PTI means PITAI to Karachi residents.
