The Sindh High Court has asked the Sindh chief secretary, Lyari Expressway Resettlement Project’s director, Surjani Town police station’s SHO and others to file comments on a petition against encroachments on three amenity plots in Taiser Town.
The petitioner, Lal Din, a resident of Taiser Town, moved the court against provincial and civic authorities for their failure to protect the amenity plots.
The petitioner submitted that there were three amenity plots earmarked for parks in Sector 35-A of Taiser Town but due to negligence of the authorities concerned, the land grabbers had casted their eyes on the plots and encroached some portion of these plots in cahoots with the area police and Lyari Expressway Resettlement Project’s officers.
The residents of the area not only protested against the encroachments on the plots but also complained to the authorities time and again but their plea fell on deaf ears. The petitioners pleaded to the court to issue directives to the authorities to remove the encroachments from the plots and protect the same. After initial hearing, a division bench issued notice to official respondents and others to file comments on a petition. The hearing of the case was adjourned to a date to be fixed later by the court office.
