The anti-encroachment cell of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) on Saturday removed all encroachments from the city’s Karimabad area.
On the night between Friday and Saturday, an anti-encroachment cell during an operation removed all illegal street carts and business facilities from Karimabad area.
Some of the local businessmen and cart owners protested but none was arrested. The action against encroachments is a part of a city-wide campaign against occupation of public land.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) member of the Sindh Assembly Khwaja Izhar-ul-Hasan has strongly condemned the removal of encroachments in Karimabad by the local administration. Izhar opined the way the operation had been conducted clearly showed that the action was taken on PTI’s request to provide more facilities for PTI election camp in the area.
After the claim, he maintained that poor people shall not be deprived of their livelihood to facilitate a political party.
It must be noted that Karimabad falls under the National Assembly constituency NA-246 which will witness a by-poll on April 23 as MQM MNA Nabeel Gabol resigned from the seat after developing differences with the party.
A number of candidates are participating in the election with the most notable candidates being MQM’s Kunwar Naveed Jamil, PTI’s Imran Ismail and JI’s Rashid Nasim.
