Close circuit television (CCTV) cameras are being installed at entry and exit points of Rawalpindi city.
According to Rawalpindi Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operation Karamat Ullah Malik, the city police were utilizing all available resources to control crime and maintain a peaceful atmosphere in the city. He said scientific techniques were being adopted under which a modern computerised surveillance system of CCTV cameras was being installed at the entry and exit points of the City.
It was need of the hour to use modern technology for the protection of citizens and imparting proper training to the police, he added.
Karamat Ullah Malik said the installation of CCTV cameras at the check posts would help police keep an eye on the anti-social elements.
The SSP said that under the project, the cameras were being installed on public-private partnership basis at all entry and exit points of the city which will help control vehicle-lifting cases and to net the criminals.
The new system was being installed at over 26 entry and exit points of the city, he said, adding special police officials had been deployed on these posts.
