UN imposes sanctions on TTP chief

NEW YORK:

The United Nations Security Council has added ‘banned’ Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan chief Mullah Fazlullah to its sanctions list for perpetrating and financing terror acts.

Fazlullah will now be subjected to assets freeze, travel ban and arms embargo. The decision was taken during a meeting of the 15-member council’s al-Qaeda Sanctions Committee on a proposal by the United States.

In January, the US designated Fazlullah as a global terrorist and slapped sanctions against him.
