NEW DELHI:
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif for rescuing 11 evacuees from war-hit Yemen and tweeted about it, deeming it a ‘humanitarian gesture’.
PM Nawaz had arranged a special aircraft to take the 11 Indian nationals to New Delhi after they arrived in Karachi from Yemen.
India itself has evacuated over 3,000 of its nationals from Yemen so far by air and sea.
The country further received requests for assistance from 26 countries including the US, Bangladesh, France, Germany, and Sri Lanka.
