Training camp of Pakistani cricket team underway

A training session of Pakistani cricket team for Bangladesh tour is underway in Lahore, a news channel reported on Wednesday.

The training was kept under the supervision of Head Coach Waqar Younis at Gaddafi Stadium whereas Saad Nasim, who replaced Sohaib Maqsood, also joined the camp for training.

As per Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) sources, the camp has been arranged to overcome the weaknesses of national players. As per schedule, the camp would conclude on April 11 however, national cricket team would depart for Bangladesh on April 13 to play two test matches, three ODIs and one T20.

Pakistani squad is currently training to perform in an upcoming Bangladesh series commencing from April 17. Pakistan will be playing with three captains now, including Azhar Ali (ODI), Misbah-ul-Haq (Test) and Shahid Afridi (T20).

Alam said that he has achieved his peak fitness and ready to go in the series against Bangladesh.

Alam said in a press conference outside Gaddafi stadium slammed his critics and said he can hit a six too.

He further said during the absence from international cricket he had learned many things and achieved his peak fitness.

“Apart from sixes and fours, singles and doubles also play a major role in building an innings,” Alam said.

“My primary job is to build the innings and that’s what I would be doing in the upcoming series,” he added, referring to the role Misbah-ul-Haq played in the ODI side for years.

He said Younis Khan and Misbah had been a ‘wall’ for Pakistan in the middle order but in their absence the new generation of batsmen had the perfect opportunity to make a name for themselves.
