Till peace prevails – COAS’s war cry on frontline

263 hardcore terrorists killed in Tirah, 35 soldiers martyred since Operation Khyber-2’s advent

During his visit to frontline troops in Khyber Agency, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif Wednesday said that the military offensive against militants would continue till restoration of ultimate peace in the country.

In his tweets, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major General Asim Bajwa said the army chief reviewed progress of military offensive in Khyber Agency and appreciated tribesmen for supporting the eviction of terrorists from their areas.

During the briefing at the frontline, the COAS was told that a total of 263 hardcore terrorists were killed after being surrounded in Tirah Valley of the Khyber Agency from all sides while 35 soldiers embraced martyrdom since start of Operation Khyber-2. He was informed that Musatil Pass leading to Afghanistan is in full control of Pakistan Army.

“Terrorists’ strongholds have been reduced and fighting is now in progress in last few pockets close to Afghan border. No escape is being allowed to terrorists. The area is infested with improvised explosive devices (IEDs), most of them foreign made. About 392 IEDs have been neutralized by Special Engineers Unit,” the briefing added.

General Sharif paid rich tribute to the sacrifices made and appreciated successes so far. He directed troops to carry on with the momentum of operation, taking it to the logical conclusion till complete elimination of terrorism from the country. He said the nation highly values sacrifices and stands united with armed forces.
