China is Pakistan’s most sincere and trustworthy friend and has supported us in every hour of trial, said Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Wednesday during a meeting with Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong in Islamabad. Matters of mutual interest, promotion of Pak-China relations and increase in cooperation in various sectors were discussed in the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that Pak-China friendship has stood the test of time.
“During the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) rule, new avenues of friendship are being evolved between Pakistan and China and the Chinese leadership has opened the doors of economic progress and prosperity to strengthen its bonds of friendship with Pakistan,” he said. He said the Chinese government and leadership’s cooperation in the progress and prosperity of Pakistan is reflection of Pak-China friendship.
He said the friendship between the two countries is based on mutual respect.
“Pakistan is proud of cooperation of China in its progress and development,” he said, adding “work is in progress expeditiously on various projects in energy, infrastructure and other sectors with the Chinese’s cooperation and a number of power generation projects will be operational in the country by the end of 2017.”
He said the PML-N government had been making unprecedented efforts for promoting cooperation with China. He said the role and cooperation of China in the exploration of precious mineral reserves in Chiniot-Rajwa can never be forgotten.
He further said the friendly relations between the two countries are turning into useful economic ties.
“All of these developments are happening in the tenure of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif,” he pointed out.
Pinning hopes with the Pak-China Economic Corridor, He said the corridor would accelerate economic and trade activities and add a new dimension to Pak-China relations. He said the corridor would prove to be a harbinger of positive changes in the region and it reflects complete confidence of China in the present leadership of Pakistan.
LOOKING FORWARD TO MEET THE PRESIDENT:
“The people of Pakistan are waiting for the visit of the Chinese President as the visit will take friendship between the two countries to a whole new level,” he said.
CHINESE AMBASSADOR IS IMPRESSED:
“The Punjab chief minister has laid a network of development projects in the province and Chinese leadership is very much impressed with the commitment and hard work the government,” said Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong.
He said that China considers problems of Pakistan as it own and will continue to extend maximum cooperation for their solution.
