PTI resignations case: LHC seeks reply from federal, Punjab govts till May 22

The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday sought a formal reply from the Punjab and federal governments till May 22 over the issue of resignations of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members.

During the hearing of a plea filed by Arslan Iftikhar, the petitioner stated that the PTI members have resigned as per the Constitution, therefore, the court should direct the speaker to approve their resignations.

He further appealed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to issue notification declaring their seat empty.

The court adjourned the hearing by seeking replies from National Assembly speaker, federal and Punjab governments.

Athar Hasan, a spokesman for Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), said that 57 passengers will now depart for Islamabad.
