The Federal Law Ministry Tuesday sent a notification to Supreme Court of Pakistan for judicial commission (JC)’s formation to probe alleged electoral irregularities in the General Elections 2013.
The notification requests the apex court to form a three-judge commission, by nominating judges, including the commission head, as agreed upon by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government last week.
The government also promulgated a presidential ordinance, paving way for the formation of the commission.
According to sources, the letter sent by the Law Ministry secretary has been received by the Supreme Court registrar and has been forwarded to the chief justice.
The commission will be tasked to submit its report within 45 days of its formation.
