In today’s Capital Talk, Honourable Minister of Defence Khawaja Asif responded to the question about Pakistan flag being hoisted in Saudi press briefings as mere optics. I do not understand what it means. Is our flag so unimportant that anyone can use it for optics without our consent? Is our flag not a symbol of our sovereignty and when we salute it, does it not represent our loyalty and commitment to the ideology it represents?
We want a detailed explanation from our Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and Minister of Defence Khawaja Asif. We have a message for Honourable Minister of Defence that sovereignty of Pakistan and lives of our soldiers are not for sale. We appreciate and support our long standing friendship with Saudi Arabia as well as our neighbour Iran. We can’t become an instrument of regional struggle between these two friendly and brotherly Muslim countries. OIC must convene an emergency meeting to discuss the crisis and defuse tension between these two key pillars of Muslim Ummah.
