The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday sought record about Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, alleged mastermind of Mumbai attacks, by April 9.
Justice Muhammad Anwaarul Haq passed the orders while hearing a contempt petition filed by Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi against Punjab home secretary.
Earlier, Punjab advocate general submitted that Lakhvi was detained in light of different sensitive reports.
However, the court asked the advocate general to elaborate the difference between earlier and current detention orders.
“How a person could be detained for more than ninety days without the permission of review board,” the court asked.
The court ordered the advocate general to present the record against the accused in a sealed envelope while adjourning the matter till April 9.
Lakhvi through his petition submitted that he was detained again on Punjab home secretary order despite the fact that Islamabad High Court set aside his detention orders for a third time and directed authorities to release him.
Lakhvi was granted bail in both cases against him, including the 2008 Mumbai attack case and the six-year-old case pertaining to the kidnapping of an Afghan national.
