The Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered the Punjab government to appoint permanent governor of Punjab till May 7.
During a hearing of Punjab governor appointment case, petitioner Azhar Siddiqui told the court that the government is violating the Constitution by not appointing a permanent governor, on which the deputy attorney general informed the court that Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif is busy in sorting out Yemen situation due to which Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif was unable to look into this matter.
Subsequently, the apex court warned of summoning Cantt Division secretary if the government fails to appoint Punjab governor till May 7.
