I thought you wanted us in the House: Khan

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Monday said that he still believed that the Parliament is “fake” but now the PTI has returned to the assemblies with an empowered judicial commission.

Talking to reporters after the joint session of Parliament over Yemen crisis, Khan said, “I have no hopes in this parliament but we have come here because I did not want people to say that despite forming of the judicial commission, PTI did not play its role in such a dire situation.”

“The language used by Defence Minister Khawaja Asif was heard by everyone. Nawaz Sharif was sitting beside his minister. Didn’t he know what the minister is saying,” he said, adding that the government had tarnished its image by allowing such language in the House.

Imran Khan revealed that all the parties, including Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and Awami National Party (ANP) have also claimed that massive rigging had allegedly taken place in the elections of 2013.

Khan also thanked the members of the Senate and National Assembly for giving him a “noisy welcome”. ‎”PTI wanted to initiate a complete investigation into the matter of alleged rigging that’s why the party members left their seats in Parliament. If last year the government had opened four constituencies, we would not have been on the streets,” he said, adding that the probe by the judicial commission would benefit Pakistan, not just the PTI.

Imran Khan also hailed PPP Senator Aitzaz Ahsan for making a forceful speech in the House.

“How can we play mediator’s role if we take part in the war,” said Khan, warning that the war in Yemen could turn into a sectarian conflict if the situation was not handled properly.

Commenting on the Yemen conflict, the PTI chief said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has personal contacts and business interests in Saudi Arabia which is why he’s trying to push Pakistan into a dangerous war.

“Pakistan participated in a foreign war previously and hasn’t been able to come out of it as yet. The country should not commit itself to another war,” he said.

Talking about the Karachi situation, Imran Khan called for indiscriminate action against criminal elements in the port city irrespective of their political affiliations.
