Overseeing the safe evacuation of Indians from war-torn Yemen, Indian Minister of State for External Affairs VK Singh said the exercise “is less exciting than going to the Pakistani embassy”.

Singh, who is camping in Djibouti to oversee the evacuation, made the comments early Tuesday while briefing the media about the rescue operation of fellow citizens.

The former army chief said the evacuation process was a difficult task and that the Indian government was trying its best to maximise success in rescuing people in large numbers, as soon as possible.

Singh raked up a controversy when he tweeted with hashtags “disgust” and “duty” during Pakistan Day celebrations in New Delhi, claiming it as a ‘job or service allocated’.
