Pakistan made great sacrifices for peace in the world: Rana Iqbal

Pakistan is a peaceful country which made great sacrifices for peace in the world, said Punjab acting Governor Rana Muhammad Iqbal on Monday while talking to a delegation of diplomats from 29 countries at the Governor House on Monday. The delegation included diplomats from Afghanistan, Yemen, Brazil, Sudan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and some other countries.

He appreciated that the international community acknowledged the sacrifices made by Pakistan in the war against terrorism, adding that the peace of world was linked with the stability of the region.

Highlighting the importance of peaceful co-existence, Rana Iqbal said that diverse opinions and faiths must be respected for the sake of peace in the society. He noted with satisfaction that Pakistan’s economy was on the path of improvement and infrastructure development was also underway.

Earlier, a five-member delegation led by Balochistan former minister Naseer Ahmed Bacha Khan also met the Punjab acting governor.

During the meeting, Iqbal said that the role of Balochistan was vital for the national economy, adding that if the natural resources in Balochistan are utilised properly the country would gain rich dividends.

He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was taking keen interest in the progress of Balochistan, adding that the government was utilising all the available resources for the welfare of people of Balochistan.
