Renewable energy products’ exhibition opens at Pak-China Friendship Centre
The Former Minister for Environment Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi has stressed upon the incumbent Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government to take the matter of effective use of alternative energy with relevant sectors seriously to combat the energy crises on permanent basis.
He was speaking as chief guest of the inauguration ceremony of the exhibition and fourth International Exhibition & Conference on Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency Pakistan (REAP) commenced at Pak China Friendship Centre, Islamabad on Thursday.
Hameed Ullah Jan lauded the active and very positive role of the private sector in promotion of alternative energy in the country and said that there are abundant unlimited and non-conventional resources of energy in Pakistan which could be utilised to meet domestic and commercial energy demands. He said that there need of hour that we should concentrate on make it possible that maximum incentives should be given to the consumers for shifting towards renewable energy so that we should make it possible for everybody to fulfil the requirements.
President REAP, Naseer Ahmed said that we cannot avoid the consequences of not using Renewable Energy as currently, most of our energy comes from the burning of fossil fuels and based upon our current rate of consumption, scientific experts forecast that we have mere decades left in our fossil fuel resources.
REAP Expo Convener, Asif Jah, said that our natural resources are depleting and with the rapid increase of population and commercial activities, it is imperative that we adopt energy efficient methods and alternative energy equipments provides easy and cost effective solution of our all energy related issues. GCCN CEO, Mansoor Akbar, said that alternative energy based companies in Pakistan are working hard to provide easy solution of alternative energy.
GCCN’s Faraz Khan said that leading Pakistani and foreign companies brought along their alternative energy products and technology for demonstration to the potential users, and such conferences are essential for the promotion of green natural resources.
Secretary General REAP Col. Muhammad Tariq Khattak said that the mega event has provided an opportunity to all participants to showcase their products and promote energy efficient technology to the consumers. The Ambassador Republic Jesus Zenen Buergo Concepcion was the guest of honour who appreciated the dedicated spirit and efforts of REAP for giving very affordable energy solutions.
More than 170 stalls representing 23 countries including Pakistan were participating in the exhibition. Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi also visited stalls set up in the exhibition and interacted with stallholders about their innovation and cost effective energy technology.
