LONDON:
Metropolitan police released Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Muhammad Anwar, who was arrested earlier from his house in connection with money laundering case.
According to MQM leader Mustafa Azizabadi, no charges were framed against Anwar, who was released on bail till mid July after hours of investigation. “We will have to wait for more details about his release,” he said.
MQM chief Altaf Hussain said that false allegations are being leveled against his party, adding “such tactics can’t unnerve MQM.Earlier, London police raided residence of Anwar and took him into custody for questioning.
“Five other men previously arrested in connection with the investigation, into money laundering, remain on police bail,” police said in the statement.
