Saulat’s wife demands security after ‘threatening calls’

Wife of death row convict Saulat Mirza’s wife Nikhat Mirza on Wednesday claimed to have received threat calls from South Africa and Canada.

According to details, Nikhat Mirza said: “We received three such calls. Two were from the known persons who had earlier been assuring us all possible assistance.” She appealed the authorities to provide security to her 60 family members.

“The callers warned me of dire consequences,” she added.

“If something happens to me or any of my family members, then the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) is to be held responsible,” she said.

About the callers, Mrs Mirza refused to divulge any names but said they were the same people who had been assuring her of their full cooperation regarding her husband’s case. It is pertinent to mention here that Saulat is a former member of the MQM who is a convicted murderer of KESC MD Shahid Hamid. His execution was delayed last month after his video confession against the MQM leaders surfaced.
