The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has demanded Rs 5 billion from the government for holding local bodies elections in provinces.
The ECP has communicated to the Ministry of Finance for payment of the local government election expenses, sources said. The Finance Ministry has replied positively to the ECP but the election body has been informed that the amount would not be paid in one go but in two to three instalments, sources further said.
According to sources, the amount will be spent on local government and Cantonment Board elections across the country.
