The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has adjourned, for a day, the hearing of an appeal plea filed by the federation against its single-bench decision for the suspension of the notification on sending chair OGRA on forced leave by the government during petrol crisis.
The hearing has been adjourned due to the absence of Additional Attorney General (AAG) Afnan Karim Kundi due to his personal engagements.
A division bench of IHC comprising Justice Athar Minullah and Justice Amir Farooq took up for hearing appeal plea filed by federation against IHC single bench verdict in OGRA chairman case.
Deputy Attorney General (DAG) Malik Faisal Rafiq and barrister Jahangir Jadoon appeared on behalf of federation, advocate Babar Sattar, and advocate Saira Rehman represented the OGRA chair in court.
Babar Sattar told the court that a single bench of IHC during the course of hearing the case had issued orders for his reinstatement on his office besides suspending the notification regarding his forced leave. The federation has filed appeal plea against the single-bench decision.
The counsels for federation told the court that AAG Afnan Karim Kundi could not appear in the court due to his personal engagements and he has to complete his arguments by himself.
The court put off hearing of case for one day.
The federal government had sent OGRA chair Saeed Ahmad Khan on forced leave for three months while holding him responsible for the petrol crisis. The Secretary Establishment Division is conducting an inquiry against Saeed Ahmad Khan on petrol crisis.
Justice Noor ul Haq Qureshi while suspending the notification on forced leave had issued orders for his reinstatement on his office.
