Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has sought data regarding drug-addicted personnel in the police from Inspector General Police Islamabad, and is vying to clean up the forces so that the capital police teams can become a model for the rest of the country.
The inspector general Islamabad Police in turn has demanded a list from intelligence agencies of police personnel used drugs.
A list will be formulated of 19 police stations with information on the exit and entry routes, check posts and checkpoints, and residences of the police officers that are part of the list.
According to reliable sources, special teams have been given the task of handling respective police stations, and the teams will be submitting their reports directly to the IG office. The reports of the federal interior ministry will be judged against the reports of IG office.
The ministry officials informed that usage of drugs has increased in the police staffers. Apart from that, criminal activities have also increased in Islamabad, which is also damaging the reputation of the police and affecting the ongoing National Action Plan (NAP).
